Meet Suraj Moorjani, MJH Founder

“I don't run properties from a boardroom. I live inside every asset until it runs itself, and then I go build the next one.”

Suraj Moorjani started the MJH story with a single floor in Yau Ma Tei, Hong Kong. In September 2017, he took over a tired walk-up, renovated it end to end, and reopened it as Atlas Hong Kong. One floor became two. Two is now becoming three. Nearly a decade later, Atlas HK is still running, still profitable, and still the flagship that has validated every move MJH has made since.

Suraj is an investor who operates what he owns. He is fluent in real estate, hospitality, design, brand, revenue management, and digital, and he uses every one of those disciplines on every asset. At each property, he moves onto the site. He works alongside contractors during construction. He covers the front desk on opening week. He trains the first team himself, builds the operating processes, promotes the strongest operator into a General Manager role, hands over the P&L, and only then moves on to the next acquisition. That is how Atlas Hong Kong has run without him standing at reception for years, and it is the exact playbook now underway in Sri Lanka. AYUDA Sanctuary Boutique relaunches in May 2026 and Atlas Sri Lanka opens in September 2026, both under General Managers Suraj has trained on the ground.

Investors backing Suraj are not backing a pitch deck. They are backing a founder with a nine-year operating track record, in-house teams in two countries, two brands built from zero, and a repeatable method that has already turned small-floor acquisitions into profitable, scalable hospitality assets. Every dollar of growth so far has been earned from operations. MJH has never raised external capital.

  • Launched Atlas Hong Kong in September 2017. Scaled one floor to two, soon to three.
  • Extended the portfolio into Sri Lanka: AYUDA Sanctuary Boutique (relaunching May 2026) and Atlas Sri Lanka (opening September 2026).
  • Created the Atlas and AYUDA brands from scratch. Name, identity, interiors, digital, operations.
  • On site at every property. Trains the team, builds the General Manager, then scales.

Nearly a decade of continuous operation at the flagship. Three properties across Hong Kong and Sri Lanka. Two brands built from scratch. All operations managed directly. Zero external capital raised to date.

Vision

Building the Next Generation of Sri Lankan Hospitality

Sri Lanka does not need more five-star chains. It needs operator-founders who understand what the next generation of travelers actually want, and who can run a P&L with discipline while the market is still finding its feet.

MJH scales one asset at a time. Every new property has to be trained, stabilized, and handed to a General Manager before the next acquisition moves forward. That is what has protected margins for nearly a decade, and it is what is now extending the portfolio across Sri Lanka, from Negombo to Colombo, Galle, and the south coast.

The endgame is a portfolio of distinct brands on a single operating platform. Built by a founder who has slept in every room, trained every team, and signed off on every renovation drawing himself.
